ABOUT

Between image,
body and material.

Setareh Kazemi is a multidisciplinary artist, photographer and contemporary dancer based in Norway.

Her practice crosses painting, sculpture, installation, photography, graphic design, movement and leatherwork. She brings together fine-art research, embodied experience and a sustained attention to material.

Her work returns to questions of place, migration, exclusion, women’s lived experience, political and urban memory, isolation, resilience and transformation.

Rather than treating disciplines as separate identities, Kazemi allows them to move through one another: photography becomes choreography; the body becomes an archive; branches and industrial materials hold traces of absence, vulnerability and resistance.

Her 2026 solo exhibition Utover det synlige (Beyond the Visible) at Galleri Alida in Åmot brought together painting, sculpture, installation and digital visual work.
